“Linen: A Second Skin” focuses on the relationship between human and linen, through the experience of sleep.

Our relationship with linen is one that is intimate, whether through clothing or bedding.

Through this project, we were able to work with the different movements, forms, and sounds that linen creates when one is in relation to it.

Ultimately, “Linen: A Second Skin” portrays a sculptural body of work made with linen, simply from the material’s forms and movements that have been captured through photos and videos.

Using Max 8 software, we were able to translate our exchange with linen to the sculpture by manipulating its shape, form, color, and hues.

Through the software, we have connected our sleep experience with linen to the sculpture. The code takes in live movements of linen performances read by a webcam, and uses those movements to adjust, and manipulate, the linen sculptures that appear.

The video and audio forms are translated through Max 8, as a result of the different manipulations of the code/ “weave” patterns, and echo’s the diversified relationship between sleep and linen, in the end forging the linen sculpture in its final form.
