Hello! My name is Zoya…
I grew up with the rise of social media, with pop culture shaping my identity over the past 15 years. It all started when I became a One Direction fan, running a Twitter “stan” account where I connected with other fans worldwide. I created aesthetic edits on Picsart and iMovie hoping to get the attention of my favourite celebrities, and formed an online network of like-minded music lovers where we had discussions, debates, and managed updates about our favourite artists. I was doing content strategy before I even knew what it meant. After 3 years and 2,000ish followers gained (a big achievement in the space at that time), my parents discovered my account and, rightfully worried that their 13-year-old daughter was talking to strangers online, made me delete it. Still, my love for media, music, fashion, film, and the internet never faded.
It led me to Concordia University’s Communication Studies program, where I specialized in Intermedia Studies and developed a passion for media theory and creative production. Since graduating in 2021, I’ve taken on different roles, including : Social Media Coordinator, Ad Operations Analyst, Marketing Manager, Content Creator, Account Manager, and Media Planner.
As I continue to grow and gain experience in the field, I am constantly reminded of the value in platforming diverse and authentic voices in media. As a Syrian-Canadian artist and creative strategist, I am passionate about bringing a unique perspective to the stories I tell and the campaigns I create. My goal is to contribute work that challenges conventional narratives, fostering new ways of thinking and interacting with the world.
I went from fan edits and Twitter followers to leading marketing strategies for some of the biggest brands in my 9-to-5. My journey has always been driven by a love for unique storytelling and making people feel something, and I’m only just getting started.
